Torrance, Calif., April 16, 2013 -- Nearly 2 million (1,951,243) Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles have been sold in the United States, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
The announcement was made today by Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A, Inc. in conjunction with Toyota Motor Corporation's announcement in Japan that it has sold 5 million hybrid vehicles worldwide.

Japanese market in 1997, and was then brought to the global car market
in 2000.
Experian also said the said the Toyota Camry was the
top-selling vehicle in the first half of this year based on its latest
vehicle registration analysis. The Ford F-150 pickup truck is a close
second. The Ford F-150 has been the most popular vehicle overall in the
U.S. for decades and the Camry has been the best-selling car here for
most of the past 15 years.
The Camry is among the vehicles built by Toyota's Georgetown, KY plant.
It was named in the Cars.com annual American-Made Index. It is the
fourth consecutive year the Camry has been the top car.
