The new 2023 Prius is stunning from the moment of your first glance. The low-slung front end, aggressive rake of the windshield, unbroken curve of the roofline, sharp Kamm rear with thin body-wide LED tail lights, and so much more. Taken as a whole, it truly is a feast for the eyes. In addition, Toyota designers wanted it to be just as stunning on a 2nd glance, and many more after that. To this end, they placed a few Easter eggs in various parts of the exterior and interior.

What is an Easter Egg?

Easter eggs are small design elements that aren’t intended to be seen unless you look closely. They don’t really contribute to the car’s design, nor do they have any real purpose except to make you smile when you run across one. It’s as if the designers were so convinced they had a winner of a design they celebrated by adding a fun little detail here and there.

Consider this article a bit of a tease. We will tell you where they are, the ones we’ve found, and to see them you’ll just have to come to Valley Hi Toyota and have a look for yourself. Trust us, spending time looking at the new Prius is time well spent.

Hashtags

Can it really be a hidden compartment if it labels itself as such? Of course! In the front of the center console, in front of the cupholders, there is a tray that appears to be the bottom of a storage area, when in fact it is removable, to reveal a hidden compartment underneath. Just to make things clear #HIDDENCOMPARTMENT is debossed on the surface. In the same unique font, the designers put #GLOVEBOX by the, what else? We’re pretty sure Toyota was keen you already knew what it was.

Hybrid Reborn

The 2023 Prius appropriately enough launches with the tagline “Hybrid Reborn” and lest you think this is something their ad agency came up with, the tagline actually appears in a couple of obscure locations on the car. The first is in the cowl just behind the base of the windshield. The second can only be seen when the hatch is open, where it is on a panel right next to the taillight.

A Distinctive Silhouette

Steven Speilberg once stated that part of his goal with the Indiana Jones character is that you could recognize him just by his silhouette. Toyota’s designers clearly feel the same way about the new Prius’s distinctive profile and you will find it tucked in a few unexpected places. One is at the very base of the rear window. You really have to look hard for another which is at the base of the Toyota Safety Sense radar and camera housing at the top of the windshield. You may also find silhouettes on each side of the dashboard panel revealing themselves when the respective front door is open.

Hidden Badging

De-badging is a procedure some people like to do with their cars when they want the design to speak for itself. One would be hard-pressed to fully de-badge the Prius as its name pops up in unexpected places such as inside the LED headlight assembly. You can also find it at the top of the A-pillar in the trim framing the windshield. Our favorite is where the Prius script is formed on the right side of the bottom orange heater coil which is part of the rear window defroster. Since the letters heat up as well, they could presumably briefly melt the Prius name into the frost shortly after startup.

Those are the Easter eggs we are aware of and it’s possible there may be more. Just consider them one more reason to come to Valley Hi Toyota and check out the stunning new 2023 Prius. Other reasons include the fact this is not only by far the best-looking Prius ever, but also the most powerful. With the larger 2.0-liter engine and an 83 kW motor, the combined power of the hybrid system is 194 horsepower. The 2023 Prius truly is the Hybrid Reborn, and you owe it to yourself to walk through our inventory here at Valley Hi Toyota, where our goal is for you to have the best customer experience.
