Toyota Wins Best Truck Brand Award in the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards

Toyota has long been known as a brand of quality and reliability and that reputation gathers continued support in the present day.  Valley Hi Toyota is proud to announce that Toyota has just been awarded the “Best Truck Brand of 2022” as part of Kelley Blue Book’s annual Brand Image Awards.  This marks the fourth year in a row Toyota has received this award. 

Perhaps even more important, it comes after Toyota launched a completely redesigned Tundra that dispensed with the V-8 engine expected in the segment in favor of more efficient and powerful turbo, and hybrid-turbo V-6 engines. The Tundra also features a completely new chassis, daring new exterior and interior styling and several other new features.  Such a major change could have risked changing consumer perceptions of a major portion of Toyota’s truck offerings, but it is clear that consumers detected the quality of the new model despite and possibly because of its new changes.

Both Consumer and Expert Recognition

Kelley Blue Book’s Brand Image Awards are drawn from the opinions of more than 12,000 active new-vehicle shoppers who have used KBB.com as part of their vehicle research.  The very fact that they have accessed KBB.com is an indication that these are fairly well-informed shoppers.  And while this award is based on consumer perceptions, it is important to note that Kelly Blue Book’s number crunchers have lauded Toyota with their own awards.  For 2022, Toyota was declared the brand with the Best Resale Value for the third year in a row and for six years overall. Not surprisingly, Toyota’s Lexus brand won the same award for luxury brands.  Said Janice Yoell, senior manager of valuations for Kelley Blue Book: “Toyota and Lexus, respectively, are the best vehicle brand and luxury brand for 2022 in terms of the highest average projected resale value across their full lineups.”

Earlier last year, the Toyota Brand also won the 2022 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Award, and again, Lexus received the award for luxury brands.  This award is based on a study that takes into account initial vehicle cost, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and depreciation.  In its summary for Toyota, KBB.com states: “Toyota’s emphasis on quality pays dividends in the form of reliability. This in turn adds value, leading to low cost to own numbers.”

Getting back to the subject of trucks and the Tundra specifically, KBB had this to say about the Tundra’s resale value:  “The reliable and durable Tundra doesn’t just have the best resale value in the full-size truck category; it holds its value better than every other car, truck, and SUV on the market.” KBB also noted the Toyota Tundra’s surprisingly good ride quality for the segment:  “Overall, the Tundra is an everyday driver that is as comfortable on the highway as a big sedan.”
