2026 Toyota Camry

Performance 

Every 2026 Toyota Camry combines the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5) with a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, delivering a total system horsepower of 225 in Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) models and 232 in models with Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Estimated fuel mileage varies by grade but can reach up to an EPA city/highway/combined mpg estimate of 53/50/51 for an LE with FWD. The lowest estimate is 44/43/44 for an XSE with AWD. 

The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission and an adjacent motor. AWD models include a second motor mounted between the rear wheels. This system also reduces the drag, vibration, and space needed for the driveshaft, allowing the rear wheels to respond instantly when necessary. 

The suspension system includes MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link setup in the rear, both tuned for better responsiveness and agile handling while still offering a smooth ride. The SE, Nightshade, and XSE grades feature a sport-tuned suspension with new shock absorbers all around, along with thicker front and rear stabilizer bars, which improve body stability and boost handling and confidence.  

Exterior 

The latest redesign brings an athletic look to the model line. The front end features the latest version of the hammerhead design, which was previewed by Prius and Corolla. The exterior trim is either chrome or black, depending on the grade. Wheel sizes range from 16-inch alloys on the LE up to 19-inch rims for the Nightshade and XSE. The XSE is the most overtly aggressive, with a body-color grille, front-side canards, a black rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. 

Interior 

The dash features a very horizontal design that highlights the width of the cabin, incorporating a mix of contrasting materials such as gloss black pewter, finished trim, and black and seat-colored surfaces. It all comes together in a way that showcases Toyota’s attention to craftsmanship. Although the touchscreen takes center stage on the dash, practical physical controls are still available for the standard dual-zone climate control system and audio volume.  

As always, the Camry provides comfortable seating for five, with a generous 38 inches of legroom and 55.7 inches of shoulder room for rear passengers. The trunk offers 15.1 cubic feet of space, and the rear seatbacks fold in a 60/40 split for versatility with passengers and cargo.  

Seat comfort has been enhanced by paying close attention to the shape and density of the seat cushion, as well as its length. The LE model has fabric-covered seats with an ocean wave-inspired pattern. The SE and Nightshade Edition feature SofTex® seating surfaces, while the XLE and XSE models have leather-trimmed seats and offer 8-way power adjustment for both front seats. XLE and XSE grades also have the option to add a power tilt and slide panoramic roof with a power-retractable sunshade. 

Technology 

LE, SE, and Nightshade Edition grades feature an 8-inch center touchscreen and a 7-inch driver information display. XLE and XSE grades come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, both of which are also available in a package for SE and Nightshade. You might never need to connect your phone physically, as Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard on all models, along with Qi-enabled wireless smartphone charging. The system also includes HD Radio, SiriusXM compatibility, and dual Bluetooth streaming for phone and audio. A Wi-Fi Connect trial or subscription provides 4G connectivity for up to five devices (30-day/3GB trial included). 

With a 10-year free trial subscription, Safety Connect includes an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen Vehicle Locator. Also available is the 10-year Service Connect trial, which allows drivers to receive Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts, and reminders. 

Safety and Driver Assistance 

All 2026 Camrys come equipped with a Blind Spot Monitor to help you spot vehicles that may be hard to see in adjacent lanes. When reversing, the standard Rear Cross-Traffic Alert can detect approaching vehicles from either side that might be out of your line of sight. All 2025 Camrys include the latest version of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 3.0), which offers a suite of safety and driver assistance features:

The PDA system detects pedestrians and cyclists at intersections and applies brakes if needed. It also provides gentle braking on curves when using the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. 

The structurally identical 2025 earned a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with 5-star ratings for all impact tests. The model was also designated as a TOP SAFETY PICK+, which is the highest rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
