Performance  

With a 2.4-liter Boxer 4-cylinder engine, the 2026 Toyota GR86 produces 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. What it does with that power and torque is mightier than what most people would believe. Thanks in part to its weight of just 2,838 pounds when equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, or 2,862 pounds with the available 6-speed automatic, the GR86 can get from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds with the manual and 6.1 seconds with the automatic, according to Car and Driver. 

The throttle mapping on the 2026 GR86 makes it easier to blip the throttle to properly rev-match on heel-toe downshifting. Engine torque control has been added to all cars to increase the throttle response overall. The Electric Power Steering system has also been retuned to improve handling feel and responsiveness. The shock absorbers have also all been tweaked for better handling and extra grip.

For 2026, the GR86 Yuzu Special Edition brings back another limited-edition icon – the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0. Painted in an exclusive Yuzu Yellow paint color, this special GR86 is equipped with a set of 18-inch matte–black wheels, along with other stunning black accents throughout the vehicle.

Interior

Everything inside the 2026 GR86 is meant to focus on the driver’s needs, such as the leather-trimmed steering wheel, parking brake, seats, and shifter. Aluminum pedals round out the sporting features.

Standard dual-zone climate control with genuine knobs and buttons give the driver and passenger full control without having to dig into menus in the touchscreen display.

Two extra seats for rear passengers can also be folded to give even more cargo space. 

Buyers who choose the Yuzu Special Edition will find a black interior with yellow accents. Customers will find black Ultrasuede-trimmed sport seats with yellow perforation and yellow stitching on the steering wheel, parking brake handle, and door trim. 

Technology 

The 2026 Toyota GR86 gives drivers plenty to love when looking forward at the digital instrument gauge cluster that puts the tachometer front and center with the speedometer in the middle to know precisely what you are doing. A G-meter is to the left of the tachometer, and to the right will show fuel range, vehicle temperatures, and such. 

A standard 8-inch touchscreen display features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and with the available 8-speaker sound system, you will hear every word and musical note as clear as day. Buyers can further add a 10-inch, 200-watt subwoofer. GR86 Premium models both feature the premium sound system as standard. 

Safety  

All 2026 GR86 models come equipped with Pre-Collision Braking System, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Hill Assist Control (HAC), Smart Stop Technology (SST), LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), Lane Departure Warning with Sway Warning, and Automatic High Beams. GR86 models equipped with an Automatic Transmission also come with Rear Parking Sonar with Reverse Automatic Braking.

The 2026 GR86 also has seven airbags and adaptive headlights that turn with the front wheels to give optimal nighttime visibility.

All models can be equipped with the ultimate peace of mind, Connected Services, which includes a one-year trial to Safety Connect with an Emergency Assistance Button and Enhanced Roadside Assistance. Buyers can also get a one-year trial to Remote Connect, which allows owners to use the Toyota smartphone app or smartwatch to control certain aspects of their car, including locking and unlocking the doors, starting the car, and locating their car’s parking location.
