Trucktember

A full month dedicated to the trucks that actually belong out here — Tacoma and Tundra, built for the High Desert, not just the brochure.

Built For The High Desert. Actually.

Out here, "off-road capable" isn't a marketing line, it's Tuesday. Between the Mojave washboard roads, the Joshua trees, and the wind that never got the memo to stop, Victorville doesn't need a truck that looks tough in a parking lot. It needs one that gets you to Lucerne Valley and back without an argument.

That's Trucktember. All month at Valley Hi Toyota, we're putting the spotlight on the two trucks that were basically made for this stretch of California — the 2026 Tacoma and the 2026 Tundra. Below, our own Frankie and Brian break them down. One of them makes a lot of sense. One of them involves ice cream.

The 2026 Tacoma Has a Taco Holder. We're Not Joking.

Yes, the truck named Tacoma has a built-in taco holder. We know how that sounds. We also know it's exactly the kind of detail that makes you grin the first time you find it — right before you take the TRD Off Road out toward the trail and remember this thing is a genuinely serious truck underneath the fun.

Locking rear diff, real 4x4 hardware, and a cabin that doesn't feel like a compromise. It's the truck for the person who tows a trailer on Saturday and just wants somewhere to put their lunch on Tuesday.

Practical. Capable. Slightly ridiculous. We'd expect nothing less from a truck built for the desert.

The Sundae Tundae. Frankie Says It Doesn't Make Sense. Frankie Might Be Right.

Somewhere between "let's talk about Tundra towing capacity" and "let's put Brian in front of a camera with an actual sundae," a decision was made. The pun writes itself: Tundra, Sundae Tundae. Whether the logic holds up is, according to Frankie, a separate conversation entirely.

Here's what does make sense: the 2026 Tundra is one of the most capable full-size trucks you can put in a Victorville driveway. Serious payload, serious towing, and trims running from the work-ready SR5 all the way up to the Platinum and 1794 Edition, for the days you want the truck bed and the leather seats.

The sundae was weird. The truck is not. Watch, judge for yourself.

Off The Pavement

Truck It.

Overlanding isn't a trend out here, it's just what happens when the pavement runs out and the weekend doesn't. Rooftop tent, a full tank, a trail nobody's graded in years — a Toyota truck is the one part of the trip that isn't supposed to be the hard part.

TRD Off Road and TRD Pro trims bring locking diffs, real skid plates, and Crawl Control that does the nervous work for you. Whatever's out past Lucerne Valley, it's built to get there and get you back.
