​​More Than FX: What’s New For the 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?​

Toyota has always strived to make a more practical Corolla. This is evident in their introduction of the hatchback model, which features an expansive cargo capacity. Toyota happens to know a few things about making such hatchbacks – or Liftbacks as they were called “back in the day” – with the added sauce to make any drive a fun experience.  

For 2026, the Corolla Hatchback continues to be a part of the Toyota family of vehicles. It combines practicality with its fun-to-drive factor, efficiency, quality, reliability, and value.  

There are three Corolla Hatchbacks available for the 2026 model: SE, XSE, and the new FX Edition. The FX Edition is a retro-inspired addition to the lineup, featuring white-finished 18-inch alloy wheels and a black vented sport wing. Inside are special black 10-way adjustable Sport Touring seats with suede inserts. Think of it as the return of the hot hatch, the FX16, from 1986. There will only be 1,600 FX Edition models available for this model year.  

All 2026 Corolla Hatchbacks are powered by the Dynamic Force 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This great performer puts down 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, while returning up to 41 MPG on the highway. If you need a bit more motivation, you can always select Sport in the drive mode selector and use the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel to tackle the nearby mountain roads.  

The cabin is spacious, comfortable, and has ample cargo space. With seating for up to five people, the 2026 Corolla Hatchback provides ample comfort for all passengers. There is 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space that is expandable with the rear seats down.  

The fun never stops when you have the Toyota Audio Multimedia system going. This is a hub for wireless smartphone connectivity, on-board Wi-Fi, and other broadcast and satellite service options. XSE models are equipped with the eight-speaker JBL Premium Audio System that includes a subwoofer and an 800-watt amplifier.  

Your 2026 Corolla Hatchback can also be connected with a subscription to Drive Connect. This service offers you a more personalized experience by keeping tabs on your Toyota through Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect. All of these services help to monitor your vehicle from an app on your device. You can also add your chosen destinations through the voice recognition feature inside your 2026 Corolla Hatchback. 

When it comes to vehicle safety, the 2026 Corolla Hatchback has it all with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as standard. Features included in TSS 3.0 are Lane Departure Assist with Steering Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and more. In addition, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is now standard on all trim levels.
