New Toyota Land Cruiser Is the Best SUV According to Cars.com

What is the best SUV out there? According to Cars.com, it is the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. The leading car shopping website says that “our watchwords for the best SUV are capability, roominess and comfort, three things the Land Cruiser has in spades.”

The editors love what it can do, including “conquer off-road obstacles with ease, with standard locking center and rear differentials, Toyota’s Crawl Control off-road cruise control, full-time four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case. The uplevel trim adds a stabilizer bar disconnect mechanism, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select system for specific surface conditions and the Multi-Terrain Monitor camera system to improve visibility while traversing tricky obstacles.”

Cars.com also adds that “the intuitive control layout in the Land Cruiser’s cockpit makes accessing all those features a breeze, too.” It is a comfortable cabin for up to five people, offering a great view of the outdoors through large front and rear glass.

In addition, the editors also cited how the Land Cruiser will not “punish you for choosing capability. Its standard tires are just street-oriented enough to remain relatively quiet on the highway; the coil-spring suspension that eats up rocks and ridges is just as happy with a diet of potholes and speed bumps.”

The editors praised the 326-horsepower i-FORCE MAX turbocharged hybrid driveline that offers 465 pound-feet of torque. This driveline returns up to 23 mpg and can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

The return of the Land Cruiser has been heralded as a triumph. Cars.com applauded the evolution of this new model. Lighter and nimbler than the previous edition, it is highly capable of tackling anything in its wake.

With two trim levels available, you have a choice of which Land Cruiser to take on and off the road. The 1958 trim is far from simple or basic, giving you capability that will satisfy you and your crew. Upgrading to the Land Cruiser trim offers a great combination of luxury and off-road prowess. It adds the standard Multi-Terrain Monitor and an available Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism to maximize your off-road experience. These features, along with an available 14-speaker JBL Premium Audio system, are some of the reasons why the Land Cruiser is even more desirable – at a lower price than the previous-generation model.
