Toyota Adds Capacity for Producing Differentials at Alabama Plant
Considering the recent developments in the automotive industry, it is reassuring to know that a growing number of parts and components for your new Toyota are being assembled in the USA. We pride ourselves on delivering vehicles that are assembled in this country, along with many parts. That includes the differentials found on the Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia.

Toyota recently announced that it has invested heavily in its Tuscaloosa, Alabama, assembly facilities to build differentials for its pickup trucks and large SUVs. This was a part of a $282 million investment made by Toyota. It also added 350 jobs to the facility to produce these vital components. The new differential and axle assembly activity is a part of a total of $1.7 billion that has been invested at Toyota Alabama.
A differential is a key component that connects the driveshaft to the axle. In the case of four-wheel drive models, you need one for each axle. Differential and axle assemblies are vital to the final drive system, ensuring safe operation of these trucks and SUVs.

Tuscaloosa is perhaps best known as the home of the University of Alabama. It is also known as a hub for innovative manufacturing in the state. Toyota has made Tuscaloosa its key component and driveline manufacturing hub since its opening in 2003. With 1.3 million square feet of production space, Toyota Alabama is also the home of engine and hybrid driveline and manufacturing for the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia. In 2024, Toyota Alabama assembled over 895,000 engines.
Investments at any of our facilities across the USA go beyond just assembly activity. Toyota is deeply committed to Tuscaloosa and Western Alabama through its involvement and investments in various community programs. They recently worked with the Tuscaloosa City Schools, as well as in a program called Driving Possibilities. This initiative, sponsored by the Toyota USA Foundation, aims to expand STEM education to potential future careers. This program is also funded by Toyota Motor North America and Toyota Financial Services.

The investments made by Toyota in the USA are fundamental in ensuring that we deliver vehicles assembled to meet your needs. In all, Toyota operates ten assembly facilities in this country, producing vehicles and key components for you here in the Victor Valley. The result is a level of satisfaction and brand loyalty unmatched anywhere in this state.
