Toyota Concepts at SEMA
When Toyota showed up at the 2024 SEMA show to booth number 22200, it brought the heat, showing off concepts and customs featuring many parts that can be ordered by anyone from the Toyota Associated Accessory Products (AAP) portfolio. Some of the specialty models Toyota showed off were the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, GR86, Tundra, RAV4, GR Supra, and Tacoma, among others.
A Word from Toyota
“At Toyota, we have an unwavering commitment to performance and adventure, no matter where our customers find it,” stated Mike Tripp, Group Vice President, Toyota Division Marketing. “We are passionate about assembling vehicles that fuel and support the lifestyle interests of our customers, and SEMA is the perfect place to show Toyota customers and fans what is possible.”
FJ Cruiser and 4Runner Upper Control Arms
Even though the FJ Cruiser has been out of production for 10 years now, Toyota is still producing specialty parts for them. In the SEMA New Product Showcase, the company showed off the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Forged Billet Upper Control Arm Kit for 2003-2024 4Runner and 2007-2014 FJ Cruiser models.
Another Word from Toyota
“At a show like SEMA we want to spark the imagination by taking stock vehicles and upfitting them with our Toyota accessories portfolio to do incredible things,” Tripp stated. “But, of course, this is SEMA, so we have also once again produced some truly amazing, one-of-a-kind vehicle concepts that are sure to thrill our fans!”
Suprabird Tribute
As a nod to the legendary success of The King, otherwise named Richard Petty by his parents, Toyota created the Suprabird, a direct copy of Petty’s iconic 1970 Plymouth Superbird NASCAR racecar. He would later win the 1970 NASCAR championship with said car. The gussied-up GR Supra features the famous baby blue paint with The King’s number 43 on both doors and, of course, a massive wing out back.
Ultimate Tailgate Tundra
For those that love to tailgate, the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra will be right up your alley. With a total of five 55-inch TVs and a 185-sq-ft canopy, this Tundra will create a fan out of anyone who enjoys hanging out with friends at sporting events. Toyota says the inspiration came from its partnership with the NFL, which spurred on the decision to create the ultimate hang-out truck.
GR86 Legacy Rally Concept
Toyota made the hearts of ‘90s racing and Gran Turismo fans flutter with its homage to the Castrol TOM’s Supra racing car. Instead of a Supra, though, Toyota showed off the iconic livery on a GR86 called the GR86 Legacy Rally Concept. Instead of a GT500 series racer, Toyota added big rally lights to the front. What makes this car the most special is the melding of the turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder from the GR Corolla and its GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system. The GR86 Legacy Rally Concept is a monster.
#84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept
Toyota is a company that loves racing and enjoys having its cars, trucks, and SUVs used for racing of all types. The #84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept was built in collaboration with ultra-famous NASCAR legend and Toyota driver Jimmie Johnson. This truck was directly inspired by Toyota and its great success in Baja racing.
4Runner TRD Surf Concept
In a nod to the surfers and surf culture of Southern California, Toyota brought us the 4Runner TRD Surf Concept that features the classic removable top for exposed rear seats and a truck-like feel.
Toyota RAV-X Concept
The Toyota RAV-X Concept brings parts from the Toyota Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team. This concept envisions a world where a RAV4 raced at the world-famous Dakar Rally. Could this be something Toyota is thinking about actually doing? Or would it look to sponsor teams that can buy the parts directly from the parts catalog and build their own RAV-X? Only time will tell.
CALTY Land Cruiser ROX
Everyone thinks that the old-school topless Land Cruiser models are some of the best and coolest vehicles ever produced. TMNA’s Calty Design Research Team created its own called the CALTY Land Cruiser ROX that brings the timeless design back to life in the 21st century through a brand-new Land Cruiser.
