2027 Toyota Camry: Hybrid Power, AWD and What’s New
2027 Toyota Camry: What’s New, Hybrid Power and AWD for High Desert Drivers
Everything Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley and Adelanto drivers want to know about the 2027 Camry, from fuel economy on the I-15 to all-wheel drive.
The 2027 Toyota Camry is expected to arrive at dealerships this fall, and it keeps hybrid power in every Camry, available all-wheel drive, and a long list of standard safety and tech. Here is what Toyota has announced, and what it means for your drive down the Cajon Pass.
Is the 2027 Toyota Camry still hybrid-only?
Yes. Every 2027 Camry uses Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor generator and a lithium-ion battery. There is no gas-only Camry, so you get the hybrid efficiency no matter which grade you choose.
Manufacturer estimates. Actual mileage varies by grade, drive type, driving habits and conditions. See fueleconomy.gov.
The system pairs with an electronically controlled CVT and gives you NORMAL, ECO and SPORT driving modes, so you can pick efficiency for the daily commute or a livelier feel for on-ramps.
What changed on the 2027 Camry compared with 2026?
Not much, and that is worth knowing before you shop. Toyota says the 2027 Camry’s grades, features and options carry over for the new model year. Toyota has not announced a list of new features, so we will not invent one. What you get is the full ninth-generation Camry package: the hammerhead front design, standard LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
If you already looked at a 2026 Camry, the 2027 should feel familiar. The 2027 is built in Georgetown, Kentucky, and arrives this fall according to Toyota.
How much fuel could a Camry Hybrid save on a Victorville commute?
Toyota’s manufacturer estimate of 51 MPG combined on the LE FWD is the number to test against a High Desert commute. As an example, an 80-mile daily round trip from Victorville to San Bernardino or Ontario adds up to about 20,000 miles over 250 workdays. At 51 MPG, that is roughly 392 gallons for the year.
Real-world results will vary with speed, load, temperature, A/C use and your grade and drive type, so check fueleconomy.gov for the version you want. Multiply the gallons by today’s price at the pump to see your own number. The longer your commute through the Cajon Pass and down the I-15, the more a hybrid can benefit your commute.
Does the 2027 Camry come with all-wheel drive?
Yes. Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive is available on all five Camry grades: LE, SE, Nightshade, XLE and XSE. A motor generator on the rear axle sends torque to the rear wheels when it detects slippery conditions or a loss of tire grip, which is useful on wet pavement, gravel and the occasional snow day up Wrightwood or toward Big Bear. AWD models make 232 net combined horsepower, compared with 225 on front-wheel drive.
AWD helps you get going, not stop, so tires still matter. To keep yours ready for the mountain roads, see our Toyota tire maintenance guide for High Desert drivers.
