How Does The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland Compare to Honda, Subaru

These days, we want vehicles that can go anywhere. They have to be rugged and comfortable at the same time, along with useful technology and greater fuel efficiency than before. As part of the introduction of the 2026 Toyota RAV4, a new Woodland model was added to fulfill your craving for adventure. It is one of several trim levels available, each sporting its own personality.
The 2026 RAV4 Woodland model is not the only such vehicle available for adventurous families and individuals who want to tackle what’s beyond the city limits. MotorTrend put it to the test, comparing it to the Honda CR-V TrailSport Hybrid and the Subaru Forester Wilderness. They want to see which of these SUVs would suit those looking to play beyond the highway. How does the 2026 RAV4 Woodland stack up in this comparison?

The new 2026 RAV4 arrives with a sharper and bolder design overall. The Woodland model adds more rugged details, such as a distinctive front clip, a black hammerhead grille, and integrated Rigid LED fog lights. The new front clip alone provides an improved ground clearance of 8.5 inches, along with approach, breakover, and departure angles made for tougher maneuvers. It also helps to have a great set of all-terrain tires on 18-inch alloy wheels for better grip on various surfaces. These wheels and tires are protected by wide satin black overfenders.
An all-new interior graces the new 2026 RAV4, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a 12.9-inch center infotainment touchscreen display. Black and Mineral SofTex upholstered seats provide comfort, while all-weather floor and cargo mats keep dirt from reaching the carpet below. Cargo space is generous with 37.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats.
Our 2026 RAV4 Woodland is powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid driveline with 236 net combined horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. For improved traction, you switch the drive mode selector to Trail or Snow, enabling it to get through those conditions with ease. It can also tow up to 3,500 pounds while sipping fuel at a rated 39 MPG in combined city and highway driving.
In the comparison of the RAV4 Woodland, CR-V TrailSport, and Forester Wilderness, MotorTrend gave the nod to the Toyota. The main reason is its hybrid driveline and efficiency, stating that it “has proven itself to be the most efficient option in the wider compact hybrid crossover class.”
If you’re looking for another advantage over the competition, the 2026 RAV4 Woodland will also be available with a more powerful plug-in hybrid driveline later this year.
