Where Are Your Favorite Toyotas Built?

April 5th, 2025 by

At Valley Hi Toyota, we understand that there are some concerns about the tariffs that were enacted on April 2, 2025. We also know that you have concerns about how these tariffs will affect the cost of future models.

We would like to address this by looking at where Toyota is assembled. Each vehicle listed has its final assembly location, and in some cases, it has multiple assembly points. Here is a rundown of the Toyota lineup and where it is produced.

We also understand that where the parts are produced for each vehicle is important to you. While that information does not appear on the sticker of each vehicle, we can assure you that when Toyota produces a vehicle in the U.S.A., they are sourced with the highest content of domestically produced parts and components available internally and from our suppliers.

Toyota employs 49,000 people across the U.S.A., working at nine assembly facilities. Since the opening of our first assembly facility in Georgetown, Kentucky, American workers have built 34 million vehicles. Georgetown is actually the largest Toyota production facility in the world.

At a number of the nine assembly facilities in the U.S.A., Toyota builds engines, transmissions, and other major components for our vehicles. In addition, Toyota engages with suppliers located in this country to support the production of our U.S.-assembled vehicles. From tires to gears, these suppliers provide a substantial level of content in our U.S.-assembled Toyotas.

To find the final assembly plant information on your Toyota, locate the Vehicle Information Number bar at the lower edge of the windshield on the driver’s side. That information is also found on the vehicle information plate or sticker on the driver’s door sill. If the Vehicle Information Number starts with a 1, 4, 5, or 7 – that vehicle’s final assembly plant is in the U.S.A. Canadian-assembled vehicles begin with 2, Mexican-assembled vehicles start with a 3, Japanese ones start with the letter J, and Austrian vehicles start with the letter W.

Hopefully, this information will be valuable and useful when determining which vehicles you should consider in the face of the tariffs. However, the entire Toyota lineup is second to none – no matter where they are assembled.

The tariff rollout is a fluid situation and is subject to change at any time.  If you have any further questions about vehicle pricing due to the tariffs or are curious about which new Toyota will work for you, please contact us at Valley Hi Toyota. We are here to help you through these times.
